Software Client for Windows Administrators' Guide

Keyboard Capture Control

With the latest release of 24.10, you can now control keyboard capture more effectively when using the Software Client in a remote desktop environment.

This feature allows you to access local operating system shortcuts without disrupting your workflow.

Keyboard Capture

To Disable the Keyboard Capture:

  • Press Win + Esc to stop the Software Client from capturing all keyboard inputs. This action enables you to use local OS shortcuts, such as:

    • Win: Opens the Start menu.
    • Alt + Tab: Switches to a different application.
  • Dedicated page in the pre-session settings to disable the Win + Esc keyboard shortcut, if required.

Focus Behavior

  • While the Software Client in focus, you can freely use local shortcuts.

  • If you switch focus away from the Software Client (e.g., to open the Start menu or switch applications), keyboard capture will pause.

  • When focus returns to the Software Client, all keyboard input will be captured again, and the ABC will behave as usual, sending all keys to the remote OS.

Resuming Keyboard Capture

You can re-enable keyboard capture by the following step:

  • Navigate to the Connections menu, and select the On/Off Keyboard Grab.
