Technical Guidance

Release 24.03.4 of the Graphics Agent for Linux is a maintenance release which replaces and deprecates 24.03.3.

It includes the following:

  • Bug fixes and security updates.

There are no changes in this release. This release was issued to maintain version parity with other products.

Previous release information:

Release 24.03 of the Graphics Agent for Linux includes:

Improved Network Efficiency for Graphics-Intensive Deployments

PCoIP Ultra now defaults to Auto Offload in deployments where client machines that support H.264 Hardware Decoding connect to Anyware agents. Additionally, YUV Chroma subsampling defaults to 4:2:0. This ensures higher framerates of high-resolution content, along with optimized bandwidth utilization, especially in remote locations that have bandwidth constraints.

When set to Auto Offload, PCoIP Ultra automatically switches between CPU and GPU Offload modes; thereby leveraging the capability of CPU Offload to provide the best image fidelity, while relying on GPU Offload during periods of high display activity. This results in efficient utilization of network bandwidth, and at the same time, ensures that users see both video and still image content in the most optimized way.

The Auto Offload mode is described in detail in the topics PCoIP Ultra and Configuring PCoIP Ultra.

RHEL/CentOS 7 is no longer supported

CentOS 7 and RHEL 7 will reach end of life in June 2024. Support for these operating systems has been removed in HP Anyware 24.03.

  • USB bridging support has been expanded, allowing wider testing of USB devices.
  • The Graphics Agent for Linux now supports multiple NICs. A specific interface for PCoIP traffic can be selected via configuration if required; otherwise, the agent will automatically select an interface. No configuration is required for automatic interface selection.
  • Local license server users can now use their own certificates to allow https communication between the license server and the Graphics Agent for Linux.

Other Improvements

  • Added support for local termination of additional Wacom tablets:

    • Wacom Cintiq 22HD
    • Wacom Cintiq 22HDT
    • Wacom Cintiq 24 Pro P
    • Wacom Cintiq 24 Pro PT

Local termination with these tablets also requires PCoIP Tera2 Zero Client Firmware 6.5.0 or higher.

  • You can now disable the locally-rendered cursor. This prevents double cursors in applications that render their own cursor.

  • The cursor now hides as expected during video playback.

  • Bug fixes and security enhancements.

19.05

End of Support
This release is no longer supported.
  • Support for PCoIP Ultra, our latest PCoIP protocol enhancements. This is an evolving feature that will continually improve with each release.

  • Clients connecting directly to the PCoIP agent, without using a connection broker, can now be shown a disclaimer message prior to authenticating. The disclaimer must be accepted in order to connect. To use this feature, enable pcoip.enable_disclaimer_auth.

  • The PCoIP Agent for Linux now installs without any USB dependencies. A default installation cannot bridge USB devices.

  • Because installation no longer includes USB dependencies, supporting bridged USB devices now requires an additional installation step.

  • Added support for QEMU/KVM hypervisor.
