Zero Client Firmware

Documentation and Downloads for Zero Client Firmware

Management Requirements

Zero Clients with firmware 17.05, 20.01 or newer are supported when managed by PCoIP Management Console 20.01 or newer.
Supported browsers are Firefox, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge. Versions of the browsers tested are those that were available prior to release.
Web browsers must support TLS 1.2 or higher to connect to an enabled administrative web interface (AWI).
This release cannot be brokered using the CMI brokering protocol.

Upgrade Path Information

If you are upgrading your Tera2 firmware:
- Use PCoIP Management Console 20.01 or newer to upgrade the Zero Client to firmware 20.01 or newer.
- Use PCoIP Management Console 1.10.3 through 1.10.8 to upgrade the Zero Client to firmware 5.0 or newer.
- The AWI can be used to upgrade a single Zero Client to any firmware version.
- See Knowledge Base article KB 1144 for upgrade prerequisites.

Download Contents

This download includes an .all file for use by the Administrative Web Interface (AWI) and a .pcoip file for use by PCoIP Management Console version 2.0 and higher.
The .pcoip file contains either the PCoIP Zero Client firmware or Remote Workstation Card firmware specific to the component firmware that was downloaded.

Prefer GSC-IS default setting change

The Prefer GSC-IS default setting is now set to disabled.

Security Updates

Zero Client cryptography library has been updated to the latest Mocana version.
Connections to Remote Workstation Card with TLS Security Mode set to Suite B now require a custom peer to peer certificate. Customers wishing not to configure a custom peer-to-peer certificate, should set TLS Security Mode to Max Compatibility.

Zero Client can use smart cards for authentication with Leostream broker using the PCoIP Broker Protocol.

Notes

The Leostream broker supports both Cloud Access Software (CAS) and Remote Workstation Cards.
Smart cards cannot be used for single sign-on to a workstation, this feature will be available in a future release.

Administrative Web Interface (AWI) is disabled by default

By default, the Administrative Web Interface is disabled. To enable it, please read instructions here.

SLP is disabled by default

By default, SLP discovery is disabled.

Release 24.10 of the Tera2 PCoIP® Zero Clients includes:

Support for Failover Security Gateways

Version 24.10 of the Tera2 Zero Clients introduces support for session failover in a Connection Manager and Security Gateway deployment. If the primary gateway used to establish a PCoIP session fails unexpectedly, the session is automatically transferred to the next available gateway. This ensures continuity of sessions in the event of hardware failures or network disruptions.

Session failover is only available if failover gateways are configured on the machines where the Connection Manager and/or Security Gateway are installed. No additional configuration is required on the Tera2 Zero Clients.

Note: Instructions for configuring failover gateways is available in the topic "Configuring Failover Security Gateways" of the Connection Manager and Security Gateway Administrators' Guide.

Support for Increased Session Resiliency

Tera2 Zero Clients now have session resiliency of 60 seconds for connections with session failover. If a connection is terminated unexpectedly, Tera2 Zero Clients will attempt to reconnect for 60 seconds. The increased session resiliency time ensures that users can continue to work without interruption, while eliminating the need to reconnect manually.

Note: Without failover gateways, Tera2 Zero Clients will continue to have 30-second resiliency time for connections.

Release 23.12 includes:

Deploying Firmware 23.12 or later via Management Console

Firmware versions 23.12 and later can only be uploaded and deployed by PCoIP Management Console 23.12.1 or later. Management Console version 23.08 or earlier cannot process these firmware files, and will throw an "Exception uploading and processing file" error when an upload is attempted.

To deploy this firmware version, upgrade to Management Console 23.12.1 or higher.

MFA options can be displayed in Zero Clients

Multi-Factor Authentication options can now be displayed in Zero Clients.

Added support for STARCOS smart cards

STARCOS smart cards are now supported. For a full list of supported smart cards, see Tested Smart Card Models.

Analog audio-in can be disabled via the AWI

Analog audio input can now be disabled using the device's AWI. For more information, see Configuring Audio.
