Do PCoIP Zero Clients support USB devices with a visible cursor, such as slate and scribe tablets when bridged to VMware Horizon View?
PCoIP Zero Clients support usb devices ( slate/scribe/pen tablets etc. ) but further configuration may be required.
Scenario
After connecting your device you can use the tablet for basic cursor movement and mouse click operations just like a regular mouse. The tablet specific features such as touch pressure sensitivity, 1-to-1 co-ordinates mapping, brush size and cursor speed control will not work.
Cause
By default the USB tablet is locally terminated on the PCoIP Zero Client. The PCoIP Zero Client treats this tablet as a standard pointing device and additional device features will not work while in local termination mode.
Resolution
In order to use the extra features of the tablet ( i.e.. Wacom Intuos4 model PTK-440 ) you must force the device to bridge.
How do I bridge a USB device on a PCoIP Zero Client?
Resolution Considerations:
If the USB device is bridged the cursor will disappear.
- Windows 7 - This has been fixed in View 5.1.2 and newer.
- Windows XP only - To display the Windows cursor when the device is bridged in Windows XP you must use vSphere to edit the VM configuration parameters and set svga.noHWCursor=true.
Example
How to turn on the windows cursor in Windows XP when a USB device is bridged.
-
- Power down the VM
- Right click on the VM and select Edit Settings
- Go to Option > Advanced > General and click on Configuration Parameters button or manually edit the VMX.
- Add svga.noHWCursor=true to the configuration parameters.
