Problem

The PCoIP Session unexpectedly disconnects, investigation into the logs show:

2011/04/16 10:20:52.606   1  -504   MGMT_PCOIP_DATA    Unable to communicate with peer on PCoIP media channels (data manager ping timer expired)

Cause

Inside the PCoIP communication there is a constant internal PCoIP ping between systems. When PCoIP traffic is interrupted by more than 3 seconds this message will appear in the log. If no data is received within the session timeout the session will disconnect. What is the session disconnect timeout for a PCoIP session?

Resolution

The root cause of these messages is typically an environmental issue and can include:

  • Client crashed
  • Host crashed
  • PCoIP data was blocked on the network
  • Network experienced a fault

Investigation into each end point and the network between them is recommended.
