Release of PCoIP Zero Client and Remote Workstation Card Firmware 17.05

We are pleased to announce the  release of security updates for the PCoIP Zero Client 5.5.x and PCoIP Remote Workstation Card 4.9.x firmware:

  • PCoIP Zero Client Firmware 17.05
  • PCoIP Remote Workstation Card Firmware 17.05
  • PCoIP Remote Workstation Card Software for Linux 17.05
  • PCoIP Remote Workstation Card Software for Windows 17.05

Please note that firmware 17.05 should only be used with PCoIP Management Console 20.01 or newer.  See KB 3230 for more information.

Why 17.05 as numbering?
 
This release includes a critical security update which required moving to our current firmware numbering system. The updated 17.05 firmware is still based on the 2017 feature set.
The latest versions, such as 20.04, contain all the new features we have released in the last 3 years.

What are the noticeable features that are not part of 17.05?
  • 4 K UHD resolution support
  • New wacom tablets, local termination (everything added after firmware 5.5)  
  • AWS session type (no MFA, only connection via TAA) 
  • Reboot notification message 
  • Low light mode

All other versions are End of Support.

PCoIP Zero Client Firmware 17.05

This release is a maintenance release with bug fixes and security updates over release 5.5.2. 

What's New in Release 17.05

Use with Management Console version 20.01 or newer
  • This firmware is supported with Management Console 20.01 or newer.
Security Updates
This release contains security updates over firmware 5.5.2.
  • The TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA cipher suite for encrypting Pre-Session communications with VMware Horizon Environments has been removed.
  • TLS 1.0 is no longer available to initiate PCoIP sessions. TLS 1.1 must be used as the minimum version to initiate PCoIP sessions.
  • AES-128 has been removed. PCoIP session can only be encrypted with AES-256.
  • The PCoIP Zero Client Administrative Web Interface now requires web browsers that support TLS 1.2.
Administrative Web Interface (AWI) is disabled by default
  • By default, the Administrative Web Interface is disabled.
SLP is disabled by default
  • By default, SLP discovery is disabled.

PCoIP Remote Workstation Card Firmware 17.05

This release is a maintenance release with bug fixes and security updates over release 4.9.0.

What's New in Release 17.05

Use with Management Console version 20.01 or newer
  • This firmware is supported with Management Console 20.01 or newer.
Security Updates
  • The Remote Workstation Card Firmware session security mode has been improved.
  • The minimum TLS version required for establishing a PCoIP session is now TLS 1.1. The minimum TLS version required to access the Administrative Web Interface (AWI) is now TLS 1.2.
  • The Administrative Web Interface certificate is now a SHA-256 certificate with 3072-bit RSA encryption.
  • PCoIP session encryption with AES-128-GCM has been removed, only AES-256-GCM can be used.
Brokering / Removal of Connection Management Interface (CMI)
  • CMI is no longer available in the Remote Workstation Card. This Firmware maintains brokering with Horizon View. Brokering by way of the PCoIP Broker Protocol can be done using the Remote Workstation Card Agent. (requires a Cloud Access subscription)
SNMP sysName
  • Now reports the endpoint FQDN instead of "Teradici Corp".
Time Zone Database update
  • GMT time zones have been replaced with the 2016j IANA time zone database.
Remote Workstation Card Host Software for Windows and Linux 17.05 are versions for compatibility with PCoIP Remote Workstation Card Firmware 17.05.
