What does RESET CAUSED BY messages mean?

When a PCoIP Zero Client is reset except by 

Below is a list of reset messages that will show up in the log file of PCoIP devices.

 

MGMT_SYS :*** RESET CAUSED BY: UI ***

 

This message is displayed when the PCoIP device is reset from the Administrator Web Interface. For example you just uploaded new firmware and selected Reset to restart the device. You may have also reset button on the PCoIP Processor page.

 

MGMT_SYS :*** RESET CAUSED BY: CMS ***

 

This message is displayed when a profile from the PCoIP Management Console gets applied and has a value that causes the device to restart.

 

MGMT_SYS :*** RESET CAUSED BY: SOFTWARE ***

 

This message is displayed when the PCoIP device crashed and recovered. This needs to be investigated by HP Anyware Global Support services. Ensure you are running the latest firmware before opening a ticket. If the PCoIP Zero Client is not running the latest firmware, update the PCoIP Zero Client first. If the issue occurs again, open a ticket.

MGMT_SYS :Reset cause: ROM EXC GENERAL

This message is displayed after the PCoIP device crashed and recovered. This needs to be investigated by HP Anyware Global Support services. Ensure you are running the latest firmware before opening a ticket. If the PCoIP Zero Client is not running the latest firmware, update the PCoIP Zero Client first. If the issue occurs again, open a ticket.

 

MGMT_SYS :*** Power management post reset state: standalone ***

Look for a *** RESET CAUSED BY: XXXX *** in the logs. If this message does not occur in the logs and there is only a MGMT_SYS :*** Power management post reset state: standalone *** entry. This means that the reset was initiated by a software method and was done unexpectedly. Reasons for this include:

  • The power is removed from the PCoIP Zero Client
  • The power button is held down for more than 4 seconds to power off the PCoIP Zero Client
