The HP Anyware PCoIP Agent for Windows and Linux both produce logs with statistical and diagnostic information. The information is highly valuable for diagnosing issues with HP Anyware or Remote Workstation Card environments. The log files also contain statistical information on network conditions, image quality and performance.

By default PCoIP logs are set to verbosity level 2 and can be set anywhere ranging from 0 (least verbose) to 3 (most verbose). HP Anyware Global Support Services may request logging be set to verbosity level 3 for troubleshooting purposes. It is recommended that the logging be left at the default verbosity of level 2 for every day use. Level 3 verbosity increases storage use and disk access whist level 0 reduces logging to a level may hinder troubleshooting efforts.

PCoIP Agent for Windows

The PCoIP Agent for Windows stores the PCoIP log files in C:\ProgramData\Teradici\PCoIPAgent\logs by default. Most log files are generally kept for 7 days before being purged. Depending on what version of components and how many components are installed there will be may different log files. The log files that are of more interest for general issues are::

Install and uninstall logs

The PCoIP agent and sub components installed by the agent installer each have their own install and uninstall file. The file name format is pcoip_component_installer_datetime.txt or pcoip_component_uninstall_datetime.txt where component could be agent, vhub, printing or any other component. These log files contain all messages generated by the installer.

PCoIP agent log

The PCoIP Agent is the main process of the HP Anyware PCoIP Agent. The PCoIP Agent listens for new incoming connections and then launches other processes as necessary.

The PCoIP agent creates a new log file each time the service is started. The log filename is in the format pcoip_agent_datetime.txt. The log file contains:

• System and agent information and version
• Details of the certificate used for the TCP 443 listener
• User connection attempts
• High level details for launching the user session.
• Licensing check out and check in status

PCoIP server log

The PCoIP server is responsible for the PCoIP session including imaging, audio and UDP network communication. 

The PCoIP server creates a new log file for each time process is started. A new process is started for every PCoIP session. The log filename format is pcoip_server_datetime_sessionUUID.txt. The log file contains:

• System and pcoip server information and version
• Session parameter negotiation
• UDP 4172 connection details
• GPU configuration, driver and setup
• Virtual Channels loaded and some information
• Display topology and configuration
• Network statistics including lost packets, latency and bandwidth
• Imaging statistics including image quality and frame rate
• Audio statistics
• Session end/disconnection

PCoIP Printing Service

The PCoIP printing service logs are for the HP Anyware PCoIP Printing Service.

The logs are created each time the HP Anyware PCoIP Printing Service is started. The log filename format is PCoIP Printing Service_number.txt. The log files contains:

• Service version number
• Communication between the printer virtual channel plug in and itself
• Printers created locally
• Drivers used for the created printers

PCoIP Control Panel

The PCoIP control panel logs are for the PCoIP control panel which provides a GUI interface for licensing and support.

The PCoIP control panel creates a new log each time the process is started. The process is started by the agent when the PCoIP Agent service is started. The log filename format is pcoip_control_panel_datetime.txt. The log file contains:

• PCoIP Control Panel version
• License statistics from querying license status
• Netstat output

PCoIP Agent for Linux

The PCoIP Agent for Linux stores the PCoIP log files in /var/log/pcoip-agent by default. You must have root access to read the log files. Each time a new log files i created the older log file is compressed with gz compression. By default, 12 historic log files are kept and managed by log rotate. Depending on what version of components and how many components are installed there will be may different log files. The log files that are of more interest for general issues are::

The log filename is in the format session-launcher.log. Older log files are session-launcher.log.X.gz where X is a number and the lower the number the newer the file. The log file contains:

• System and session launcher information and version
• Xorg process details
• Desktop process details
• PCoIP server launch details

Remote Workstation Card 

Remote Workstation Card(RWC) logs can be found by logging into Administrative Web Interface from IP Address of RWC. Path to get logs from AWI is Home>Diagnostics> Event log> View. The log file contains:

• Configuration of Remote Workstation Card
• PCoIP Client Information during session initialization
• Display Topology Information of PCoIP Client and RWC
• Management state which performed by PCoIP Management Console
• USB statistics 
• Audio Statistics
• Network Statistics including bandwidth, frame rate in pcoip traffic
• Session Connect/Disconnect statistics
• Error messages and disconnect reason codes

RWC Brokering Agent for Windows
