Software Client for Linux Administrators' Guide

Selecting Audio Devices in Session

While in session, you can select audio devices that will be forwarded to the agent. If more than one audio device is connected to the client machine, you can select up to three audio output devices by default, and one audio input device after a PCoIP session has been established. Please see Multiple Audio Device in the Windows agent admin guide if you would like to configure the maximum number of audio devices.

The maximum number of audio devices are configured on the agent. For more information, see the "Configuration guide" in the Windows agent guide of your interest.

Info

  • AV lock functionality will be disabled if you select more than one output audio device.
  • This feature is available on Linux client machines connecting to Windows Graphics agents or Windows Standard agents running on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Before You Begin

Before you begin, make sure that at least one audio device is connected to Anyware Client. If no device is connected, you will not see any device under the device list on the Audio dialog.

Selecting Audio Devices

  1. When in session, go to the Connection dropdown menu, and click Audio.

  2. On the Anyware | Audio window, select the output devices:

    1. Under Output, use the toggle buttons next to the output devices to select the devices of your interest.

The System Default Output is Required

Anyware Client selects the system default output device, for which the toggle button appears locked until you select another device.

    1. Select another audio output device by using the toggle button next to the audio device. Only 3 output devices can be selected at a time.
  3. Under Input, use the toggle buttons next to the available input devices to select the input device of your interest. Only 1 input device can be selected at a time.

  4. Wait until the devices have been selected.

Once selected, the audio devices are forwarded to the agent.

Saving Selected Devices

The first time the client is run the system's default input and output devices will be selected. These devices will appear with the same name on the agent side.

Audio devices selected during a session will be saved upon disconnect. These settings will be retrieved when starting a new session with the same agent. If all audio inputs are unselected, the default audio device on the client system will be enabled when starting the new session.

Busy State and Error Messages

The audio dialog will enter a busy state when the user selects it, indicated by a spinning icon. It will remain in this state until the audio device is acknowledged by the agent or the process times out. If there an error occurs during this process or it times out, an error message will appear describing the failure.

USB Bridged Audio Devices

USB audio devices will appear in the audio dialog unless they are bridged. Bridging a USB audio device, that has been selected, will behave the same as a device that has been unplugged.

Multiple Audio Devices and Collaboration

The multiple audio device feature is available for the primary client during collaboration sessions. However, collaborators who join the session, will use the legacy Teradici Audio Driver. Audio will be played on the default devices of the collaborators and all selected devices of the primary client. In order for all collaborators to hear the audio output, the audio must be played to the Teradici Audio Driver. If the primary client selects a specific audio output device, audio will only be heard on that particular device.

Unplugging Audio Devices

If a selected audio device is unplugged from the client host, it will be removed from the session. In such scenario, user will get an alert pop-up message that an active audio device has been disconnected.
