Audio Support
Stereo audio output and mono audio input are supported and selected by default.
During a session, the host's default audio device is changed to Teradici Virtual Audio Driver. When the session is disconnected, the audio device selection reverts to its previous setting.
Note: Applications must use the system default device
The Anyware agent delivers audio over PCoIP connections by reassigning the system's default audio device. Only applications that use the system default audio device will send or receive audio over PCoIP.
Note: Volume is set to full when the Anyware agent is installed
When the Anyware agent is installed, the system volume is reset to maximum. Test the volume level before use.
Multi-Channel Audio Output
Requirements
-
Agent: Standard Agent for Windows, version 23.06 or newer
-
Client: Anyware Client for macOS, version 23.06 or newer
Important: macOS Client is required
Multi-channel audio is only supported by the Anyware Client for macOS.
-
Audio device: Multi-Channel Audio device that supports 2.0, 2.1, 5.1, or 7.1 channel configuration (connected to Anyware Client for macOS)
Current Limitations
-
Only 2.0, 5.1, and 7.1 configurations are currently supported.
-
Individual speaker volume control is currently only available for 2.0 configurations.
-
Multi-channel audio does not work on Avid Media Composer.
Selecting Multi-Channel Audio
To use multi-channel audio in a PCoIP session, the client Mac must be connected to a multi-channel audio device that is set as the system default. When a configured client establishes a PCoIP connection, the Standard Agent for Windows will automatically detect the multi-channel system.
See the Anyware Software Client for macOS Administrators' Guide for setup instructions.
Support for Multiple Audio Devices
Version 25.03 of the Standard Agent for Windows introduces support for up to 5 audio output devices. The number of available output devices is configurable to up to 5 devices and by default is set to 3. Users can select up to 5 audio output devices and a single audio input device for use in-session. Selected audio devices will be promoted on the agent and the equivalent virtual devices with the same name will be created on the agent.
Setting the values to zero will disable the Multiple Audio Devices feature and dynamic virtual devices will no longer created on the host. The input and output will fallback to using the Teradici Audio Driver when the values are set to zero.
Supported Agents & Clients
This capability is supported on the following:
Client | Agent | Notes |
---|---|---|
Linux clients 25.03 and later | Windows Graphics agents version 25.03 later. | Graphics agents running on Windows server are not supported. |
Linux clients 25.03 and later | Windows Standard agents version 25.03 later. | Standard agents running on Windows server are not supported. |
Trusted Zero Clients 25.03 and later | Windows Graphics agents version 25.03 later. | Graphics agents running on Windows server are not supported. |
Trusted Zero Clients 25.03 and later | Windows Standard agents version 25.03 later. | Standard agents running on Windows server are not supported. |
Configuring Multiple Audio Devices
Multiple audio devices support is selected by default in the windows agent if the HP Anyware Virtual Audio driver is installed.
The Windows agent is configured to support 1 input audio devices and 5 output audio devices. The Configure multiple audio devices directive can be used to:
-
Disable the multiple audio device feature, and
-
Configure the number of audio devices.
Info
For instructions on selecting the audio devices when the client is in session, see the "Selecting Audio Devices" topic in the Anyware Client for Linux Admin Guide.
HP Anyware Audio Driver
Installing the Graphics Agent for Windows 10 and 11 will also install the HP Anyware Audio Driver, which is required for this feature to work. Uninstalling the driver from these agents will automatically disable the feature. This driver is responsible for creating and removing dynamic virtual audio devices on the agent.
Teradici Audio Driver (Legacy Driver)
The Graphics Agent for Windows will also install the legacy Teradici Audio Driver needed to support clients that do not support multi audio devices, or to support audio when multi audio devices is disabled. If the Teradici Audio Driver speaker is selected for playback, the stream will be played on all selected audio output devices simultaneously, as the Teradici Virtual Audio Driver does not have a corresponding device on the client side.
When the multi audio device feature is selected, the Teradici Virtual Audio Microphone cannot be used, and the HP Anyware Audio Microphone should be used instead. To use the legacy Teradici Audio Microphone, the multi audio device feature must be disabled.
