Overview of Edge Gateways¶
Info
This feature is in BETA.
An Edge Gateway is a software solution that functions as a bridge between Cloud Gateways and unsupported regions. Installed and managed in customer environments, these gateways are closer to the agent systems they serve, providing continuous gateway service with reduced latency.
Edge Gateways are provisioned from Anyware Manager Enterprise, which generates unique installation commands for deploying them. During deployment, Edge Gateways are associated with sites. Sites represent geographical regions, and associating them with Edge Gateways ensures service availability and routing of sessions within a region through corresponding Edge Gateways.
When a site is assigned to and Edge Gateway, machines located in this site will use the Edge Gateway to route sessions. if the Edge Gateway isn't available, will traffic fall back to the public gateway.
Edge gateways and sites have a many-to-many relationship, which means that:
- a site can be assigned to multiple gateways, and
- a gateway can be assigned to multiple sites.
If a site is assigned to multiple Edge Gateways, sessions will be routed through one of the assigned Edge Gateways without a specific priority order. If all assigned Edge Gateways are unavailable, the session will be routed through the public gateway.
The Edge Gateway page displays the following details:
-
Name: The names of the edge gateways.
-
FQDN/IP addresses: The Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) or IP addresses of the edge gateways.
-
Sites: The sites associated with the edge gateways.
-
Status: The status of the edge gateways. The gateways can be assigned one of the following statuses: Available, Failed, and Unhealthy.
