H.264 Hardware Decode¶
The Anyware Software Client for Windows supports H.264 hardware decode for select hardware configurations on agent and client machines, by using the Anyware Client for enabling the decode. H.264 hardware decode results in lowered CPU requirements, and potentially, reduced power consumption. This feature is enabled by default and works in conjunction with the High Performance Client mode.
The H.264 hardware decode feature has been tested with the following client machine configurations:
- Intel Graphics Card capable of H.264 Hardware Decode
- AMD Integrated Graphics Card capable of H.264 Hardware Decode
Other configurations might also work in combination with the High Performance Client mode.
Additionally, the Graphics Agent must have an NVIDIA Graphics Card that supports PCoIP Ultra GPU Offload with the following configuration:
- The PCoIP Ultra setting must be set to either GPU Offload or Auto Offload
- The PCoIP Image Quality setting for Yuv chroma subsampling must be set to 4:2:0
The following NVIDIA graphics cards are supported:
- NVIDIA Quadro P400
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
Additional graphics cards are expected to work, but have not been tested.
Instructions for Configuring Agents
Instructions for configuring PCoIP Ultra and PCoIP Image Quality on agent machines can be found in the Administrators' Guides for agents. Depending on your agent’s operating system, select the administrators’ guide, and then refer to the “PCoIP image quality levels” topic under the “Configuration Guide” section for instructions.
Disabling H.264 Hardware Decode¶
H.264 hardcore decode cannot be disabled from the client interface. This can only be done by modifying the pcoip_admin_defaults
registry key.
-
From the Registry Editor, locate the
pcoip_admin_defaults
registry key available at the following location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Teradici\PCoIP\More Information About the Registry Key
In some cases, this key might not be present. If you are unable to find the
pcoip_admin_defaults
key, create it in the location indicated above. -
Right click this key, and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
-
Set the DWORD value to "0".
-
Quit the Registry Editor.
