Version 24.07 of the macOS Anyware Client now supports Wacom Movink 13 tablets. For more details, see the "Wacom Support" topic in the Software Client for macOS Administrators' Guide. 

Support for Xencelabs Pen Displays

In version 24.07, support for Xencelabs Pen Display 16 and Xencelabs Pen Display 24 has been added to macOS Anyware Clients connecting to Windows Graphics or Standard agents. This support is available in the locally terminated mode, where peripheral data is processed locally at the Software Client. It is also supported in the _bridged_ mode, where peripheral data is sent to the desktop for processing. It is also available in the bridged mode, where peripheral data is sent to the desktop for processing. For more information, see the "Supported Xencelabs Pen Displays" topic in the Software Client for macOS Administrators' Guide.

Pre-session Client Interface is Now Localized

The pre-session interface language can now be changed. The client will automatically use the system's configured language if the language is supported. For more information and instructions for changing the language, see Language Support.

High Performance Client Mode is Now Default

The Software Client for macOS's high performance client mode is now enabled by default, and recommended for most users. Previously, this mode was available as a technology preview. The previous standard mode can still be enabled by switching to Standard Performance Mode, if desired. For more information, see Client Modes.

Simplified Login for Single-Desktop Users

When a connection has a single desktop available, the desktop is now automatically selected and authenticated, without requiring a desktop selection step.

Users with multiple desktops available will continue to select their desired desktop after authenticating the connection.

Collaboration Manager Opens from In-Session Menu

New Anyware Modes Information Dialog

Information related to PCoIP Ultra acceleration modes is now available via the Connection Health Indicator on the Software Client for macOS interface. A tooltip has been added next to Mode on the Anyware Health window, which opens the Anyware Modes dialog containing a brief description on the PCoIP Ultra acceleration modes.

PCoIP Ultra modes are configured on the PCoIP agent. For more information, see PCoIP Ultra Modes.

Support for PCoIP Ultra and Collboration on Apple Silicon

Version 23.04 introduces support for PCoIP Ultra and Collaboration. Clients on Apple Silicon can now connect to agents using PCoIP Ultra, as well as participate in collaboration sessions.

Collaboration and PCoIP Ultra are supported on client Macs running on Apple Silicon (M1 or M2 chips), in any client mode (Standard Client, High Performance (Preview), or High performance client).

Support for Multiple Collaborators

The Software Client for macOS introduces support for multiple collaborators in a single collaboration session. Up to 5 collaborators can now join a single PCoIP session using the same invitation link. For more information, see Collaboration.

Up to 5 collaborators can join a single collaboration session. Once 5 collaborators join a collaboration session, additional participants will not be able to join, unless one or more collaborators leave the session.

Support for Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 (DTH-167)

The Software Client for macOS now supports the newer version of the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 (DTH-167). This device is supported with both local termination and bridged connection modes when connecting to PCoIP agents for Windows and Linux (PCoIP Graphics Agent for macOS is not supported).

Introduces Support for macOS 13 (Ventura)

This release introduces support for macOS 13 (Ventura), and removes support for macOS 11 (Big Sur).

The PCoIP Software Client for macOS 23.01 introduces the following features and enhancements:

• Connection Health Indicator: This release introduces a new Connection Health Indicator to the Software Client for macOS. This feature allows users to monitor the health of an active PCoIP session, including live statistics for frame rate, network packet loss, and network latency. See Connection Health Indicator for more information.

• Collaboration: A new Collaboration manager replaces the collaboration management console, providing an improved interface and streamlining the process of generating and accepting collaborators. The collaboration manager displays a list of connected users, and allows the session owner to enable or disable input control for collaborators during the session.

• HP Anyware: With this release, Teradici CAS is now HP Anyware. HP Anyware brings Teradici CAS and ZCentral Remote Boost together into a single solution, starting with enhancements for the collaboration feature.

• Collaboration Enhancements: There are two major improvements to collaboration in this release:

  • The PCoIP Client for Software Client for macOS now supports GPU Offload and Auto Offload PCoIP Ultra modes in collaboration sessions, if the connected PCoIP agent also supports them.

  • Mouse visibility has also been added in this release; Guest collaborators can now see the host's cursor movements during a collaboration session.

• URI-launched session configuration improvements: When launching the Software Client for macOS via a URI, you can now use most of the same properties available to command-line launches in your JWT payload. For more information, see Command Line Parameters.

• Changes to full-screen and minimized modes: The Software Client for macOS now functions as a native macOS application while in full-screen mode, and switching between full-screen displays and the local desktop is managed by Mission Control.

  Because Mission Control can now manage full-screen displays, it is now possible to enable Fullscreen All Monitors mode and then use Mission Control to switch one monitor back to local control. This configuration allows you to work in both local and remote enivronments using multiple displays.

• Mission Control behavior in macOS-to-macOS PCoIP Sessions: Since Mission Control now manages full-screen PCoIP sessions for the Software Client for macOS, if you are connecting to a remote macOS desktop—where both the local and remote machines are Macs— it is important to be clear which Mission Control gestures and keypresses are used locally, and which are used by the remote desktop. For more details about activating Mission Control during a PCoIP session, see Using Mission Control in PCoIP Session.

macOS 12 (Monterey) Support

In this release of the PCoIP Software Client for macOS, macOS 12 (Monterey) support has been added.

Collaboration Enhancements

In this release of the PCoIP Software Client for macOS, collaborators can now connect to PCoIP Ultra Collaboration sessions initialized on Windows and Linux PCoIP Agents in addition to the existing macOS PCoIP Agent support. Guest collaborators can connect using a CAS brokered connection when using the latest Modern Connection Manager, no longer requiring a direct connection to the shared PCoIP Agent. Relative Mouse Menu and Hot Key

Security and Stability Updates

Increased security and stability updates and enhancements around the PCoIP Client.

Multi-Channel Audio Output Supported

Support for Multi-Channel Audio Output (2.1, 5.1, 7.1 channel configuration) is now supported when connecting the PCoIP Software Client for macOS to PCoIP Agent for macOS.

PCoIP High Performance Client

The PCoIP High Performance Client enables higher frame-rates with fewer dropped frames than the default PCoIP Software Client. Standard PCoIP Client mode is still recommended for most use cases, the High Performance Client is recommended for the presentation of high frame rate content such as video or animations.

Audio Output Devices

With this release users can now change audio output devices in-session. For example, plugging in headphones on a MacBook will switch audio output from built in speakers to the headphones for the PCoIP session. This is limited to audio output devices with the same number of output channels. For example, when switching between stereo speakers to stereo headphones. If a user needs to switch between devices with a different number of channels, they will still have to re-start the PCoIP session to negotiate the change in audio channels.

It includes the following update:

• Previously when a user was connecting to a system with a certificate that cannot be verified they would be presented with an insecure connection message. If the user decided not to proceed with the connection and cancelled the message the quit menu item was disabled. In this release the quit menu is enabled.

Changes in PCoIP Client Keyboard Handling

The keyboard handling of the PCoIP Client for macOS has be updated to support the PCoIP Agent for macOS. New default handling for the CMD key to capture and send to remote systems when the PCoIP Client application is in focus. Additionally, the CMD key will no longer be mapped to the CTRL key. This functionality is on by default. For further information on this feature, see here.

TLS 1.1 Deprecation

The PCoIP Software Client for macOS will no longer negotiate PCoIP connections using TLS 1.1.

Apple M1 Macs are now supported with the PCoIP Software Client for macOS. This processor does not support USB or PCoIP Ultra.

Strict PCoIP Software Client Parameter Parsing

The parsing of the PCoIP Client parameters is more restrictive in this release. If the parameters are not properly formatted the PCoIP Client will exit.

Detect Monitors Feature

Detect monitors is a new menu item has been added that enables users to trigger the client to recognize if there has been a change in the displays connected to the Client. For example if you are plugging a projector into a laptop. This feature would extend the remote workstation to include the projector without having to disconnect or reconnect to the session.

Direct Connect to Remote Workstation Cards (RWC) Depreciated

PCoIP brokering can now be used to connect to the RWC. The ability to directly connect to a RWC has been depreciated and may be removed from a future Software Client release. When connecting to a RWC using the latest firmware, use PCoIP brokering. Direct Connect may be used with older firmware releases.

What's New in This Release

Improved Audio Input Bandwidth

PCoIP monitors the bandwidth available for audio and selects the audio compression algorithm that provides the best quality possible for the available bandwidth. Previously PCoIP endpoints use the Opus audio codec for audio output only, now this codec is available for audio input. By using the OPUS codec for audio input, high quality audio recording is possible even when bandwidth is limited.

Enhanced Security and Stability

This release contains improvements and enhancements around the security and stability of the Software Client for Mac.

PCoIP Ultra

This release contains improved support for PCoIP Ultra, our latest PCoIP protocol enhancements. This is an evolving feature that will continually improve with each release. For more information see the PCoIP Agent documentation.

Auto-Forward USB Devices

This release enables USB devices to be automatically redirected to the remote desktop on connection. Either all devices can be forwarded or a set of devices specified by VID/PID.
