Enhanced Security Using Smart Card Authentication

Version 25.03 of the Software Client for Linux introduces support for in-session smart card authentication for Linux Clients that connect to Linux agents. When this feature is enabled, session authentication will use the smart card connected to the client. Once the session is established the smart card used to authenticate will be available for tasks such as in-session authentication and document signing.

Smart card authentication provides an added security layer, and simplifies identity management within PCoIP deployments.

Support for Two Audio Output Devices

Version 25.03 of the Software Client for Linux  introduces support for multiple audio output devices. You can now select up to three audio output devices for playing audio, and a single audio input device while in session.

This capability is only supported on Linux clients connecting to Windows Graphics agents or Windows Standard agents. For more information, see Selecting Audio Devices. 

Introducing Zoom VDI for HP Anyware

Version 25.03 of the Anyware Client for Linux introduces support for Zoom VDI, which allows for an enhanced video conferencing performance in HP Anyware environments. The feature works by offloading the audio and video streams from HP Anyware agent devices to HP Anyware client devices, which handle the processing and transmitting of these streams to and from Zoom servers. This results in reduced latency, and improved meeting experience during PCoIP sessions.

Once installed and configured, the capabilities of Zoom VDI enable quick adoption, leading to a seamless experience while starting and joining meetings. The Zoom VDI Plugin is similar to the Standard Zoom Client, and includes features such as optional end-to-end encryption, gallery view, speaker view, language interpretation, breakout rooms, and screen sharing.

Improved Wacom and Xencelabs Tablet Responsiveness in High Latency Networks

Version 24.10 introduces improvements to the responsiveness of Wacom tablets and Xencelabs tablets operating in high latency networks. For this purpose, a new parameter has been introduced:

Improve graphics tablet responsiveness on high latency network

This parameter must be set on the host. Enabling it ensures smooth and consistent drawing on graphics tablets, even in high-latency network environments. This results in improved performance even if occasional packet drops are experienced. 

Legacy High Performance Mode is Now Removed

The High Performance (Legacy) mode has been removed as an option in Anyware Client for Linux 24.10.

Release 24.07.4 of the Software Client for Linux contains bug fixes, stability improvements, and security enhancements. 

Release 24.07 of the Linux Anyware Client includes the following new features:

Support for Wacom Movink 13

Version 24.07 of the Linux Anyware Client now supports Wacom Movink 13 tablets. For more details, see the "Wacom Support" topic in the Software Client for Linux Administrators' Guide. 

Support for Xencelabs Pen Displays

In version 24.07, support for Xencelabs Pen Display 16 and Xencelabs Pen Display 24 has been added to the Linux Anyware Client while connecting to Windows Graphics or Standard agents. This support is available in the locally terminated mode, where peripheral data is processed locally at the Software Client. It is also available in the bridged mode, where peripheral data is sent to the desktop for processing. With this new approach, sensitive parameter values are not stored in the shell history or process list, thereby ensuring enhanced security while launching the client. Product Name Change Announcement

PCoIP Client is renamed as Anyware Client with this release. This name change is reflected on the desktop application menu and client interface. The name of the client executable, configuration files, and file locations will remain unchanged.

Support for RHEL 9 and Rocky Linux 9

This release introduces support for RHEL 9 and Rocky Linux 9 as a TECHNOLOGY PREVIEW. Full support will be available in a later release.

Release 23.06.2 of the Software Client for Linux is a maintenance release which replaces and deprecates 23.06.0.

In addition to bug fixes and stability enhancements, the Software Client for macOS introduces the following:

Pre-session Client Interface is Now Localized

The pre-session interface language can now be changed. The client will automatically use the system's configured language if the language is supported. For more information and instructions for changing the language, see Language Support.

High Performance Client Mode is Now Default

The Software Client for macOS's high performance client mode is now enabled by default, and recommended for most users. Previously, this mode was available as a technology preview. The previous standard mode can still be enabled by switching to Standard Performance Mode, if desired. For more information, see Client Modes.

Simplified Login for Single-Desktop Users

When a connection has a single desktop available, the desktop is now automatically selected and authenticated, without requiring a desktop selection step.

Users with multiple desktops available will continue to select their desired desktop after authenticating the connection.

Collaboration Manager Opens from In-Session Menu

The Collaboration Manager can now be launched from a new Collaboration menu option in the Software Client for macOS's menu, in addition to launching from the system menu bar. For more information, see Sharing Your Session With Collaborators.

New Anyware Modes Information Dialog

Information related to PCoIP Ultra acceleration modes is now available via the Connection Health Indicator on the Software Client for macOS interface. A tooltip has been added next to Mode on the Anyware Health window, which opens the Anyware Modes dialog containing a brief description on the PCoIP Ultra acceleration modes.

PCoIP Ultra modes are configured on the PCoIP agent. For more information, see PCoIP Ultra Modes.

Ubuntu 18.04 Is Now Obsolete

Ubuntu 18.04 reached end of life on May 31, 2023, and is now obsolete. It is no longer a supported operating system for the Software Client for Linux.

The Software Client for Linux introduces support for Tangent panels.

The Software Client for Linux introduces support for multiple collaborators in a single collaboration session. Up to 5 collaborators can now join a single PCoIP session using the same invitation link. For more information, see Collaboration.

Up to 5 collaborators can join a single collaboration session. Once 5 collaborators join a collaboration session, additional participants will not be able to join, unless one or more collaborators leaves the session.

Support for Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 (DTH-167)

The Software Client for Linux now supports the newer version of the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 (DTH-167). This device is supported with both local termination and bridged connection modes when connecting to PCoIP agents for Windows and Linux (PCoIP Graphics Agent for macOS is not supported).

Deprecation Warning for Ubuntu 18.04

This is the last release of the Software Client for Linux that will support Ubuntu 18.04. Future releases will not support Ubuntu 18.04.

• Collaboration Enhancements: There are two major improvements to collaboration in this release:

  • The PCoIP Client for Software Client for Linux now supports GPU Offload and Auto Offload PCoIP Ultra modes in collaboration sessions, if the connected PCoIP agent also supports them.

  • Mouse visibility has also been added in this release; Guest collaborators can now see the host's cursor movements during a collaboration session.

Setting Log-Levels via the PCoIP Client UI

In this release of the PCoIP Software Client for Linux, you can set the log-level of the PCoIP Client in the pre-session UI. For information on how to do this, see Setting Log Levels

Collaboration Enhancements

In this release of the PCoIP Software Client for Linux, collaborators can now connect to PCoIP Ultra Collaboration sessions initialized on Windows and Linux PCoIP Agents in addition to the existing macOS PCoIP Agent support. Guest collaborators can connect using a CAS brokered connection when using the latest Modern Connection Manager, no longer requiring a direct connection to the shared PCoIP Agent. Relative Mouse Menu and Hot Key

In this release of the PCoIP Software Client for Linux, you can turn on/off the Relative Mouse feature using an in-session menu or hot key combination. For more information on this, see Enabling Relative Mouse.

Webcam Support

USB webcams now supported in a PCoIP session when connecting to PCoIP Agents for Windows. Use webcams with conference applications such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom in the remote desktop. For more information on this, see Webcam Support.

PCoIP Ultra AVLock

PCoIP Client for Linux now has PCoIP Ultra AVLock menu available in the High Performance Client mode and with PCoIP Ultra enabled, for more information on this, see here.

PCoIP Ultra AVLock enables regulated synchronization of audio and video frames. For some use cases, such as video editorial, audio video synchronization is critical and must be tolerant of variable network conditions that may be present with remote work.

TLS 1.1 Deprecation

The PCoIP Software Client for Linux will no longer negotiate PCoIP connections using TLS 1.1.

Azure Virtual Desktop Support

It is possible to connect to a Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) using the PCoIP Software Client for Linux over RDP. For more information on this, see Azure Virtual Desktop. The PCoIP Software Client for Linux only supports AVD connectivity on Ubuntu 20.04.

Webcam Support added for 21.03 - Tech Preview

As part of a Teradici Tech Preview program Webcams are now supported with the PCoIP Software Client for Linux. In order to enable Webcam support, you need to have both the PCoIP Software Client and PCoIP Agent installed. As this feature is in Tech Preview it is disabled by default. Auto-Offload Feature added to PCoIP Ultra

The auto-offload feature has been added to PCoIP Ultra for the 20.10 release. When enabling PCoIP Ultra user's can choose to use this feature. Auto-offload automatically selects the best codec to use to guarantee optimum performance levels and image fidelity.

Support added for Cintiq 22 DTK-2260 and Cintiq Pro 24 - Pen & Touch DTH 2420 on High Latency Networks

The PCoIP Software Client for Linux 20.10 now supports Wacom Tablets Cintiq 22 (DTK-2260) and Cintiq Pro 24 - Pen & Touch (DTH-2420) with local termination on high latency networks.

Local Termination of Wacom Cintiq 22HD, Intuos Pro S and Cintiq Pro 32

This release of the PCoIP Software Client for Linux 20.04 supports local termination with the Intuos Pro Small (PTH-460), Cintiq 22HD (DTK-2200) and Cintiq Pro 32 (DTH-3220).

Override Local Termination of Wacom Tablets

Local Termination of Wacom tablets provides the best user experience in networks with high latency, however some features of the tablet may not be fully supported with local termination. A HID Local Termination Blacklist has been added to override the preferred local termination mode. Devices on the blacklist would be bridged to the remote desktop. High Performance Client

This release of the Software Client for Windows 20.04 includes the ability to enable the high performance mode of the PCoIP Client. For more information, see High Performance Client.

Detect monitors is a new menu item has been added that enables users to trigger the client to recognize if there has been a change in the displays connected to the Client. For example if you are plugging a projector into a laptop. This feature would extend the remote workstation to include the projector without having to disconnect or reconnect to the session.

PCoIP Ultra Enhancements

This release includes NVEnc 4:2:0 colorspace transformation support for PCoIP Ultra.

What's New in This Release

Connecting USB flash devices to a remote host

You can now connect USB flash devices to a remote host. Only flash drives can be connected. Only the USB 2.0 protocol is currently supported.

• USB 3.0 flash drives will not work when plugged into a USB 3.0 port, but will work when plugged into a USB 2.0 port.
• USB 2.0 flash drives will work when connected to a USB 3.0 port.

Improved Audio Input Bandwidth

PCoIP monitors the bandwidth available for audio and selects the audio compression algorithm that provides the best quality possible for the available bandwidth. Previously PCoIP endpoints use the Opus audio codec for audio output only, now this codec is available for audio input. By using the OPUS codec for audio input, high quality audio recording is possible even when bandwidth is limited.

Enhanced Security and Stability

This release contains improvements and enhancements around the security and stability of the Software Client for Linux.

PCoIP Ultra

This release contains improved support for PCoIP Ultra, our latest PCoIP protocol enhancements. This is an evolving feature that will continually improve with each release. For more information see the PCoIP Agent documentation.

Auto-Forward USB Devices

This release enables USB devices to be automatically redirected to the remote desktop on connection. Either all devices can be forwarded or a set of devices specified by VID/PID.
